Sniplet 48. Another Story about Eurynomos [MegaCrossover]

Mazin looked at the trade bill before him that the Infernal Senate had approved. Once he signed it, it would go into law, accelerating trade across this quadrant of the galaxy. Mazin carefully picked up his pen, pausing for the illusionists to record the image in their minds for reproduction later, and looked down at the page, ready to sign. He put the pen to paper, beginning to sign his name, but was suddenly interrupted by a small thump at his knees.
“PAPA! PAPA!” It was Eurynomos, crying and clutching onto his leg. “Papa, they hit me!”
The guests chuckled, which Mazin thought was quite rude. His child was harmed and they laughed at him? Mazin put his pen down and knelt to pat Eurynomos on the head. “Who hit you, darling?”
“The mean other kids. They were all red and blue and big!” Eurynomos had had not given Mazin a very good mental image of the other children.
“Well darling, do you know what we do when other people hit you?”
“I don’t wanna tell daddy! Daddy will just send the skeletons after them!”
Krenmyr poked his head out from where he was sitting. “I’m right here, sweetie! Where do I need to send the skeletons to?”
Eurynomos shrieked and ran away, and Mazin got up to go follow him, but was interupted. “President Mazin, we are in the middle of-”
“Oh. Right.” Mazin sighed, waved Krenmyr towards the door, and signed his name to the bill, now law. Smiling at the illusionists, hoping they would capture his image quickly. “Alright, thank you everyone for being here. Lunch will begin in a few minutes, I just need to go find my son.”
Chandra followed Mazin out of the room. They were here because of the new trade law, which the Stellar League was a major part of. “Oh, Mazin, I hope that Eurynomos is fine, and that Krenmyr doesn’t send any skeletons after those children.”
“Hopefully not.” Krenmyr’s skeletons didn’t know when to quit. Krenmyr neither, actually. Mazin followed the shrieking until he found Eurynomos, being hugged by his daddy.
“Sweetie, sweetie, just let me know where they are, and the old skeletons will get them, and lift them up, and throw them away!”
“Let me go! Let me go, daddy!” shrieked Eurynomos, squirming.
“Put our son down, dear.” said Mazin, and Krenmyr put Eurynomos down with a smile. “Now, do you know what to do when someone hits you, Eurynomos?”
Eurynomos shook his head. “What do I do, papa?”
“You hit them right back.” Both Krenmyr and Chandra began protesting at this suggestion, but Mazin moved into position. “Make a fist like this, okay? Nice and tight, but do not put your thumb inside your fist, you’ll hurt it. And don’t let it be free either, nice and tight. like this. Legs wide, one in front, one behind, like this. That’ll make you stable. Right then, fists in front of your face, elbows in front of your body, to defend yourself. Then to punch, you straighten, like this.”
Eurynomos followed his papa’s instructions, but Chandra rushed over. “Mazin, you shouldn’t teach Eurynomos to be violent. Eurynomos, you shouldn’t hurt people unless it is necessary. If people were kinder, it would-”
“I’m teaching him to defend himself.” protested Mazin. “Eurynomos, you don’t punch anyone unless they punch you first. Alright?”
“Okay, papa.”
Chandra sighed. “I suppose that’s fine. But Eurynomos, why were the other children hitting you?”
Eurynomos shrugged. “I dunno, because they’re big and mean and scary!”
“That can’t be it.” sand Chandra. “Why would they hurt you?”
Eurynomos paused. “And because I don’t have any friends.”
Mazin rubbed his son’s tiny head as Krenmyr shook his head, listing off “friends” on his fingers. “Why sweetie, that’s not true. Your have Mr. Bones, and Ms. Bones, and the Bones Siblings, and-”
“They’re not my real friends, they’re just skeletons, papa!”
Krenmyr looked agast. “Don’t let them hear you say that, dear, they love you!”
“Maybe it is time for you to get some friends, Eurynomos. I’m sure we could find many children for you to play with. Yes, many children indeed….”

Author's Note: It looked like this story was going to be part of a much longer series, but it wasn't. It was just the previous story and this story. I know that Krenmyr's skeletons are probably pretty dangerous and ruthless, but I just imagine Krenmyr summoning the skeleton brothers from Undertale and I can't stop laughing.
