Sniplet 1. When Xander Met Illiam

Illiam leaned back, the now comforting scent of the opium bar sweeping over him. This was the life- he had no worries or cares anymore. They'd all been swept away. As he prepared to inhale another puff of the substance, he was distracted by the wall behind him collapsing. Patrons and attendants scattered in all directions as a figure came through the hole.
A monstrous, hideous brute of a devil pointed to Illiam and Illiam leapt to his feet. "You are not welcome in hell." He cracked his enormous knuckles, lava-like skin flexing. "Isatum will show you the way out."
The devil drew a giant axe, easily the size of Illiam himself, and charged at Illiam, who dove out of the way. What to do, what to do! Where were his weapons?
Well, he didn't really need them... With a shudder and a sigh, Illiam transformed, his body trippling in height, horns growing from his head and blades extending from his arms. When the devil charged again, Illiam rushed to meet him, blocking his axe with one arm blade and stabbing the beast in the gut with the other. Magma hissed out of the open wound, and the devil only laughed. "Oh, so the little one will put up a fight? Excellent!"
Illiam telekinetically thrust at the devil, who he assumed was named Isatum, pushing him through a wall. Hell had such terrible building codes. Such weak walls. Illiam rushed after Isatum, his dark aura now fully awake, sucking the vitality and energy from the devil. Already he glowed less bright, already he seemed less devoted to this fight. He seemed to swallow a lump in his throat, but then spat out a cone of magna and fire at Illiam.
Illiam stood, blinking his burned eyes, and when he could see again Isatum was standing in the middle of the square, beckoning him to come. Illiam mentally adjusted himself, then rushed forward.
Isatum conjured a wall of fire just as Illiam came forward, but as Illiam was now immune to fire, he felt fine. He caught the devil off-guard, sunk his blades into him once more, and now the devil seemed unsure. Great wings of fire sprouted from his back, and he took off, flying towards the palace.
Illiam ran after him, shooting dark black beams at him, and then suddenly, one hit. The devil screeched as the black energy encircled him, binding his wings as he fell onto the stairs of the palace. The devil held his hands in front of his face.
"Please, great one, mercy!"
Illiam shook his head. "No."
The magma did not harm the black and white marble steps, which impressed Illiam, and the devils corpse burned beyond ashes. Illiam started to turn to leave, but couldn't.
The emperor had arrived.
Xander, dressed in a robe embroidered with scenes of the various punishments to be found in hell, approached. He was hot and radiant and had an aura of evil and longing unlike anything Illiam had ever felt. Illiam looked to his face, which was still. He had a perfect face, in Illiam's opinion. Neutral, symmetrical, and with eyes that didn't look like eyes. Xander was very attractive. This was unsurprising, because he was a God.
"Why have you slain my exarch?" Asked Xander in a perfectly even tone of voice.
"To be fair, he tried to kill me first." That had been Xander's EXARCH?!? Wow, Illiam, you're still at the top of your game.
Xander seemed unimpressed, and Illiam honestly felt bad for him. "Then what shall I do now, without such a loyal servant?"
Illiam knelt before the God. He knew what he had to do. "If you shall have me, I shall be your exarch, Xander. I pledge my loyalty to you."
Xander smiled, slightly. "I suppose you'll be an adequate substitute. We''ll find out, at least."

Author's Notes:
Both right after writing this story and now, I find myself disappointed in it. Where is the romance and tension we expect from Xander and Illiam's meeting? Most of this story is a very boring fight with a devil. Were I to revise it, Illiam would slay Isatum intentionally and claim his prize and position as Xander's exarch. Also, it wouldn't be so dull.
Apparently, this tale was written on my phone. That explains a lot.
