Sniplet 4.2 Ekaterina Goes To School (Chapter 1)

It was a fresh spring day on the campus of Seden Academy. Young girls, all dressed in black, had gathered in the main courtyard as many of their professors, older women dressed in the same shade, stood before them. Today was a special day at the school. It was time for the Spring games!
Ekaterina, known to her peers at this school by the fake name "Evengy", stood with her friends near the front of the crowd. She held her girlfriend, Janice's hand as she waited for someone to speak. Finally, a tall elven woman came to the front of the crowd. "Students, today begins the Spring Games. I know you are all excited for these games, which should test your intellect, charms, grace, magical aptitude, and teamwork. As a reminder, the team that wins shall be given the grand prize, this year's Crystal Chalices!"
The girls vaguely cheered for the crystal chalices and the prospect of winning the games. The elven woman spoke again. "Please divide up into teams of at most 6. We shall then explain the first task!"
Ekaterina looked to her friends. Besides Janice, there was Selene, Eve, and Amilla. They were all roommates.
"A team of five, then?" suggested Ekaterina.
"Do we want to include your sister, big E?" asked Amilla.
Anya wheeled her way towards the other five, but Ekaterina shook her head. "No way. Ana should definitely not be on the team."
Anya stopped wheeling her way towards them, stopping where she was instead. Ekaterina felt bad for her for a moment. Just one moment.
The elven woman now spoke for a third time. "Today's Task! There is an Orb hidden on this campus. The team to find it first, shall be our winners! Bring it to me, and you shall gain 3 Crystal Points! You will have to solve a series of riddles to find the orb's hiding place. Here is the First- When Winter Starts and Summer Ends, We Go Here with our Friends. When the skies are grey and ground is muddy, this is the place where we study."
Ekaterina secretly hoped the next riddle would have a slightly better rhyme attached to it. Selene jumped up and down. "Maybe it's our personal study rooms?!"
"Maybe! We should check it out." Ekaterina waved her team on. "Come on, let's go!"
Many hours later, the final clue had been found by Ekaterina's team, tucked into a copy of the biography of Jeb Frambledorf, the gnome who translated the standard spell codex from its original draconic into both Phembrine and Gnomic. "She watches you in the sky above, blessing you with her divine love. Of Pure magic she's the ruler, find now the statue of-"
"Scula and ruler do not even rhyme." complained Eve.
"They do if you pronunce it "rula"" said Janice.
"But who does that? Who would pronounce it rula?"
Ekaterina shrugged her shoulders. "Look, whoever wrote these riddles needs to be replaced. This isn't even a riddle. It's explicitly telling us what we need to do. Anyway, they must be talking about the statue of Scula in the courtyard. We were near the hidden orb all along! Let's go!"
When they got there, Anya was parked near the statue, looking up at the orb Scula held in her hand. "It's right there. I knew it all along."
"That's nice." said Ekaterina. "Anyway, we're going to go get the orb now."
Anya looked at Ekaterina, clearly upset. "But- but I was here first! Ten minutes before you! I just can't climb up there! The orb should be mine!"
"Well, clearly this test is testing not only your riddle solving skills, but also if you can do things like a normal person." said Amilla. Ekaterina thought that was kind of rude for her friend to say, but ignored it.
Anya laughed at Amilla. "Normal person. Like you aren't a fucking dragon."
"Oh, right, thank you for reminding me!" Amilla transformed. While she was too young to fly, in her dragon form she easily climbed the statue, snatching the orb and handing it to Ekaterina, before turning back into her humanoid self.
"Come on! Ek-Evengy, you know that orb's mine! Please! It's only right."
"We could always let your sister on our team." said Selene.
"No way." said Ekaterina. "Sis, you're just going to have to accept you lost this time, and we won. Sorry!"
The team began walking off with the orb, and Anya's eyes narrowed. Rushing forward, she slammed her wheelchair into Ekaterina, knocking her to the ground and the orb out of her hands. Anya caught the orb. But as she did, the sound of magic crackled around her. Almost every member of this team was not going to let Anya leave, with the orb.
Amilla was a blue dragon once more, standing right in front of Anya, mouth cracking with electricity. Anya grabbed the orb tightly. She knew she wasn't going to be able to leave with it. Suddenly, she raised her hand up, and slammed the orb down on the side of her wheelchair. It broke into a hundred pieces, badly injuring Anya's hand.
"What did you do that for?" screamed Ekaterina.
"If I can't win, nobody can."

Author's Notes: Anya is amazingly in character in this story. If you wish to understand Anya, read this story. "But where's part 2?", you demand. There is no part 2. I hope you come to expect this sort of quality from sniplets.
