Sniplet 42. Xander [Lukasverse]

The surgical students stood nervously in a cluster, waiting for Dr. Lamorious to arrive so the surgery could begin. It would be a heart transplant surgery today. The patient was standing by, ready to be put into magically induced slumber, and the heart that had been grown for him on one of the hospitals very own flesh trees was sitting in a cooler, waiting to become the patient's primary blood-circulation organ. "I hope Dr. Lamorious isn't too hard on us today." worried a young catfolk woman.
"Me too." said another hopeful surgeon. "Dr. Lamorious is always so loud and- oh, hello Director!"
The director of Vermios Memorial Hospital. Dr. Xander Nesline, was walking towards the group. "Hello students! What are you all waiting around for?"
"We're here to watch Dr. Lamorious perform heart transplant surgery on Mr. Baden here." The catfolk woman indicated the patient, already somewhat out of it due to the drugs he'd been given. "But he's already ten minutes late."
Xander shook his head. "Dr Lamorious is ill, but I'm filling in for him today." The students looked at each other. The director of the hospital, filling in for a surgeon? Well, then again. Dr. Nesline was known as the greatest surgeon in the world, a man who had studied and practiced medicine for hundreds of years. He'd attended the University of Kirov's medical school in his youth, and gone back many times to refresh his skills, as well as acquire new ones, and worked in many of the most well known hospitals in the cosmos. Xander patted Mr. Baden on the shoulder with a clawed hand. "Do not worry, you will feel better than ever after surgery."
Mr. Baden smiled. "I'm sure of that, Dr. Nesline, thank you."
Xander snapped his fingers and the magical aide on standby sprung into action. Waving their hands directly in Mr. Baden's face, the man quickly fell asleep and then was levitated to the surgical theatre. Xander washed his hands, then set them aflame to dry them, as well as completely sterilize any remaining germs before retrieving his surgical tools, including his surgical glove from the sterilized tool box. The students watched as Xander put on the surgical glove, then a regular glove on his other hand. The surgical glove was one of the many medical devices Xander had invented- a clawed glove that would allow him to dexterously slice into the patient's flesh, allowing him a full range of delicate motion, as well as more visceral control. "Alright, students, I hope you are watching, because now the surgery will begin."
Xander wiped his forehead with a towel before placing it in the bin. He'd had to fill in for all of Dr. Lamorious's surgical appointments today, though honestly he enjoyed doing so. His days as a surgeon had been some of his happiest, and though he enjoyed working to make hospitals and healthcare in general better for patients, they didn't have the same appeal as slicing into a patient's flesh and pulling out their heart to put in another.
Well, there was certainly one thing that was better in these days.
His family.
Xander arrived back home at his townhouse. Sevvie jumped up excitedly at her dad's return. "Dad, dad's here! Morti, here's my dad!"
Morti waved hello to Xander. "Hello, Uncle Xander" she signed, and Xander smiled back.
"Hello Seva. Morticia, lovely to see you over again." Xander's great-niece Morti was one of Xander's favorite relatives, not only because she was considering a career in medicine like him. "Are Jiro and your father home, dear?"
"No, Jiro's at the palace!" said Sevvie. "Probably mooning over Fedor again. Watching him at his ~glaive practice~."
Xander bit his tongue. "Fedor. Pyotr's...." Xander forgot what the proper term was again, and just said instead, "One of Helorie and Anya's."
"Yup." said Sevvie. "Isn't he like our cousin?"
"He's Bara's cousin!" explained Morti helpfully.
Xander sat down and began to take his shoes off. "Well, so long as he is-"
The tiefling was interupted by the sirens, and his heart skipped a beat. The Lukas alert sirens. No. Not again. "Seva, Morti, you-"
"We're going to the palace to go meet up with Jiro and the others!" said Sevvie, jumping out of her chair.
Xander hesitated, not wanting his daughter to be in danger, but simply nodded. "Alright. Be safe." Xander himself ran out his door. Definitely starships in the sky. The evacuation was beginning. But would everyone be able to get to safety in time?
Running as fast as he possibly could, Xander arrived at the palace in under a minute and was directed to the battle platform. Ekaterina stood in charge on the battle platform, regal in her mithril battle armor. Anya and Helorie stood together on one side, and Cassandra, Danill, and Bara stood in the center. Xander waved hello to his twin sister, who waved back. Neither of Anya and Helorie's children- no, that wasn't it, um, none of their sons- were there, they were probably grouping up with Morti and Sevvie right now. Everyone was ready for battle. Anya, Cassandra, and Danill were in their armor, and Helorie and Bara were in their jumpsuits, Bara's the one she wore during Intense Goose Transformation, and Helorie was ready to get into the adamantine colossus if need be.
Ekaterina pointed to the screen. "Alright, excellent, now we're all here. As you can see, Interstellar Empire skyships are in two clusters. Cluster A and Cluster B. Lukas himself may be with them this time, so proceed with extreme caution."
Neither Xander or Cassandra were really excited for the prospect of facing their older brother, and they looked at each other nervously. Lukas was, of course, a god. Most mortals did not even dare to speak his name, calling him instead the Tricorn Adversary. On his head sat his two birth horns, and in the center was the blackened, withered horn of long-dead Elolei. It no longer possessed the power of life it once had, and now it was said any mortal who touched it could be instantly slain.
The sirens grew louder. "By the Divine Authority of Kaiser Lukas von Wolff, those who wish to become citizens of The Interstellar Empire of Hell may surrender. Those who wish to surrender may gather in the quad of the University of Kirov. You have a place in the Interstellar Empire. You Have a place with Us." Ekaterina rolled her eyes.
"Send troops to the University, make sure nobody enters and everybody leaves. We don't have any traitors." She then pointed to the two clusters. "Alright, Helorie, Anya, you'll be hanging back. Xander and Bara, you are team A. Danill and Cassandra, you're team B. You'll be joined by Uldoki troops and their starships. Xander, you can fly, right?"
"I can jump really high." said Xander. Ekaterina sighed.
"That's not good enough, Anya, go cast fly on him."
"Why don't I just buff everyone, because that's the only thing I'm good at?" said Anya, before buffing everyone. "Have fun fighting."
Bara had transformed into ten thousand geese squawking in unison, so Xander was pretty much alone. A starship tried to ram him, and he grabbed the spiked ram of the spaceship, tearing it off and stabbing the ship with it. Suddenly, however, before him was an enormous battle platform with two of Lukas's most powerful new servants on it. A young woman, wreathed completely in flames, skin partially blackened, and a cyborg assel, one of his lower tentacles and most of his upper body replaced with robotics. Adrianna and Messel. Not good.
Messel hardly hesitated before aiming his machine gun at Xander, and Adrianna turned into a ball of flame, soaring at all of Bara's geese.
No. This definitely wasn't good at all.

Author's Note:
Lukasverse?! What's that? Basically, it's a universe where Lukas was Sebastian's second child, not Xander, and was raised as such. Think of it as a Lukas Xander swap! So many things are shook up by the change. It's an exciting new universe I'm thrilled to bring to you.
